Resumo:
The phenomenon on canvas is that of the temporary migration of the peasantry to work as
sugarcane. It has lasted for decades and crosses several generations of peasants who migrate from the semi-arid to other regions of the state and the country as a way of survival, permanence and / or expansion of their peasant condition. Life in small and medium properties requires migration. It is a peculary strategy of peasant families and serves their breeding project. Even when faced with adverse conditions of existence and wage labor relations during the period, their peasant condition is not denied, the peasantry is not reduced to the status of a proletarian. Macroeconomic and cyclical factors such as droughts and droughts make migration a reality, but cultural factors such as the tradition of migration within peasant families can not be neglected. Migration impacts the routines of peasants and their families. In the cutting of the cane the body of the migrant is subjected to a rigorous discipline, he is guarded, it is demanded of cruel form. The cutting of the cane requires custom with the rough work, it asks for carved bodies for great working days. The hard days of work in the cane plantations mistreat workers, cause pain, exhaustion and illness, and even death.
