Résumé:
Until the 80s, research about psychologist's performance in occupational health were scarce. The insertion of these professionals in public health and in particular in the field of occupational health, represents the importance of caring for the mental health of workers who use the SUS and the CEREST - Centro de Referência Regional em Saúde do Trabalhador. In this sense, the present study sought to (1) analyze the psychologist's performance in occupational health from the perception of the CEREST professionals have from the psychologist's role in the team and (2) identify the activities that professionals associate with the psychologist in this kind of service. For this purpose, a field research was conducted, attended by eight CEREST professionals of Campina Grande. The ages of professionals ranged from 33 to 55 years, most of them female and with post graduate school, working in the service for more than three years, varying from multiple fields like social care, nursing, medicine, journalism and safety engineering. They answered a questionnaire with open questions and also socio-demographic items. The answers to the open questions were analyzed through content analysis and divided into two main categories: The role of the multidisciplinary team from CEREST and the perception of professionals about the psychologist's practice on the team. Results showed that the CEREST professionals recognize the importance of the psychologist in this service, collaborating on group activities, individual, of skills and subjective aspects linked to workers’ mental health, as well as in harassment contexts in the workplace environment. Therefore, this research sought to contribute to the theoretical and practical knowledge of the psychologists who will act directly on workers' health in the field of public health, pointing what are the practical possibilities of this professional in a multidisciplinary service. Also, it contributed to a better understanding of public policies which are directed to health workers.
