Resumo:
This essay it comes to Labeling Approach Theory. It amais to trace a discussion of those, by opting crime, are labeled as delinquents, marginal or bandits and, as a result, they end up being unable of returning to social coexistence in equal opportunities with the other members of society. The Labeling Approach Theory premise such as to shift attention of criminal analysis of the criminal and personal causes of crime to question the social determinants of the criminal conduct and which the effects, personal and social, of the attribution to a certain person, from being of deviant. In this paper is presented and discussed the life history of Jesuíno Brilhante, canganceiro, being analyzed the reason of his conduct considered as socially deviant, in order to establish a comparison with criminal groups of the present time, aiming pinpoint what is the commitment of Psychology in the analysis of delinquent behaviour. In drafting this essay taking it a method a review of the relevant literature, in a non systematized way. It concluded that the deviation and the criminality aren't derived of qualities or defects intrinsic to the personality of a person, resulting of labeling process, thanks to which a subject is socially invested of the criminal role. Because of this, instead of speaking in criminality and criminal behaviour, is due before speak in criminalization and criminal's social formatting.
