Abstract:
Introduction: Sepsis is a serious disease with high morbidity and mortality, which can be acquired, usually in hospital settings, with the extremes of age, children and the elderly being more vulnerable, especially the elderly, who may present with aging. worse prognosis in relation to the general population. Objective: To analyze sepsis in elderly people submitted to hospital admission in an Intensive Care Unit. Method: This is an integrative review. To select the articles, the Virtual Health Library (VHL) was used where the indexed databases Lillacs, Medline. The following inclusion criteria were considered: Scientific articles; Integrative review articles; Articles of online journals in the Portuguese language, whose texts were presented in full, portrayed the subject and had been published in the period between 2013 and 2017. It is published in its entirety and available online and free of charge; Articles that did not fit the pre-established inclusion criteria were excluded. Conclusion: It is hoped that the study will provide a better vision of care for these patients, in order to avoid as far as possible the appearance of cases of sepsis.
