Abstract:
The present work aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law in the
Municipality of Sousa-PB, when applied to concrete cases brought to the Judiciary
Branch. Such an approach is extremely relevant because of the reiteration of
domestic and family violence cases perpetrated against women throughout the
country in its most varied forms and levels, and a study of this nature is therefore
needed as a way of rethinking solutions to the aforementioned problem. For that, it
adopts the deductive method as a method of approach, the evolutionary history as a
procedure method, and bibliographical and documentary research as research
techniques, as well as unstructured interview with the 2nd Criminal Court of SousaPB. And it starts from the following problematic: Is it effective in the application of the
Maria da Penha Law to the cases placed on the agenda in the Municipality of SousaPB? Thus, in spite of all social and, especially, juridical evolution regarding the
equality of rights between men and women, the reality that plagues society is still
sad. Therefore, the existence of social and Which impede a greater effectiveness in
the application of this Law, since there is no more precise action by the Public
Authorities regarding the implementation of public policies aimed at combating and
eradicating the existing violence
