Violência e relações familiares: um estudo de caso em Catolé do Rocha/PB.

Abstract

The city of Catolé do Rocha, in the middle of the XXI century, still has in its culture a habit that no longer fits into a modern society, in a democratic state of law: private revenge or even blood revenge, as many They know it. A war between two families that have been battling for many decades and that has killed a hundred people is still seen in a common way and murders happen on the streets in broad daylight. Such practice is typified in the Brazilian Penal Code as the crime of homicide, described in art. 121, providing for a sentence of six to twenty years of detention for the perpetrator. The present study then seeks to analyze the reason why conflicts between families still exist and in what form they occur, since it is expressly punishable by current legislation. For that, the research was developed by the deductive method, by documentary and bibliographical research. It is therefore concluded that the legal norms do not reach their effectiveness, leaving the population at the mercy of the violence of the private groups, as well as the authorities of the Judiciary, who are intimidated to carry out their functions effectively
