Abstract:
The present crisis of refugees has generated several consequences, for both those who move in search of a dignified life and the societies that are welcoming this contingent. The tension due to the presence of refugees is motivated by a variety of reasons, such as the fear of terrorism, the fear of corrupting societies and impair a country's standard of living, for example. Therefore, through a historical overview of the human rights protection evolution, the present document analyze the progress of protection given to refugees, especially children and adolescentes, and to present legislative advances in treaties and international agreements that provide protection to this group. Expose the work done by international bodies linked to the UN, such as UNHCR. Also, this study details the legislative advances in treaties and international agreements related to the subject, helping to explain the concept. In addition, is showed an analizys of the main causes of the recent and growing flux of refugees around the world, pointing political, economic and social factors in some of countries protagonists of the present crisis and the particularities of each region. Finally, we explained the circumstances experienced by the children during this journey, such as the departure from the country of origin, the dangers faced during the crossings, the fact that they were often unaccompanied by relatives or someone responsible, the difficulties encountered in the host countries , such as the scarcity of basic services and xenophobic attacks and especially the effective measures to provide their well-being in general.
