Resumen:
Cancer of the cervix shows a gradual and slow development, which favors early diagnosis and, consequently, the possibility of cure. The Family Health Strategy (FHS) has key role in guiding for Pap smear testing and the active pursuit of health service users to carry it, and this strategy the primary method of prevention. However, health education has been shown to be the main ally in raising awareness, promoting the accession of women to this examination. OBJECTIVE: Conduct health education to intervene in non-compliance factors to cytological examination in a Basic Health Unit Family. METHODS: This was a descriptive, exploratory, retrospective, documental with qualitative approach was used the action research technique. The sample consisted of 49 women who participated in the intervention through a wheel conversation, users of a Basic Health Unit of Campina municipality family Grande - Paraíba. Data collection took place in two stages the first of January to March 2016, by the book cytological analysis and the second time in April 2016, through a conversation wheel. The interpretation was the Bardin content analysis. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The results for the first time show that the age group that most performs tests on the unit are women 25-64 years old, and shows that the unit failed to reach the Ministry of Health coverage target for the year 2014. the results of the second stage are arranged in three categories, which are: "User perception of what is women's health"; "Understanding the Pap smear"; "Frequency of cervical cancer screening." The survey of women associated women's health only with the pelvic axis, showing the limited knowledge of comprehensiveness, have superficial knowledge about the purpose of the Pap test, linking the discovery of sexually transmitted infections, cysts, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV ), as well as express inadequate frequency of examination. CONCLUSION: The conversation wheel on the Pap test possible explanations as to the examination, as well as contributed to the accession of women to cytopathology. We conclude by suggesting the optimization of health education actions, the active search for users, the rescue of the importance of self-care, showing that an intervention in the service is necessary, both in health education activities directed to the study population, as strategies for changes in the work process of the teams.
