Abstract:
With technological advances, the improvement of companies came to depend heavily on factors such as the Information Technology (IT) and Information System (IS). These advances are specially extended to accounting offices, which make constant use of such resources to perform their work, making of them a strong ally to assist legal and tax needs. Therefore, it’s necessary that accountants keep themselves up-to-date not just about accounting standards, but also about available technologies in the market, to expand the use of them to their advantage. In this sense, this study aims to evaluate the use of Information Technology through the use of softwares in the accounting offices from the city of Cajazeiras – PB. For this end, we surveyed 22 (twenty two) accountants who own accounting offices for a population of 38 (thirty eight); we did the survey through a questionnaire with objective and multiple choice questions, through an accessibility sampling. The survey defines itself as being a quantitative field survey. Data were tabulated and presented as graphics generated by spreadsheet. We conclude that Information Technology is evolving through the use of softwares and that it has a constant influence on accounting offices, but some changes regarding the accounting professionals are still needed for them to understand its importance and to know how to use it to their advantage, enjoying all the benefits offered by it. Information Technology is used in accounting offices, but just to assist their basic needs, so it’s up to the accountant to seek to know the ways to use it further, ensuring even more safety and credibility to the services offered.
