This capstone shows an analysis of the research practice, one of the main scientific tools of Social Science, those that are inserted in the Brazilian high school curriculum in the Sociology class, the chosen field for this analysis. This capstone analyses the aspect of the institutionalization of Sociology as a mandatory class, the first normative milestone, as the milestones that come with the democratization of the country, milestones like the Nationals Curricular Parameters, Curricular Orientations to High School, the National Common Curricular Base, besides a reflection of the scenario from authors like Pedro Demo (2003/2009/2015). An appraisal of the books used by the interviewed teachers on their Sociology classes was part of this study too. What guides the study is: What is the relevance of research and its applicability during High School, specifically in Campina Grande scenario? The information was gotten through structured questionnaires applied to three Sociology teachers from different public schools in Campina Grande – Paraíba area. Therefore, from a theoretical study of the normative milestones, recognized authors, appraisal of the book used in the research’s field, a questionnaire was applied to the teachers of the city. Through this material, it started a reflection about the practice of the research in Campina Grande and it was possible to conclude some parameters in common and variances between the theory and practice in that field, including the difficulties of the interviewed teachers to use the research as a didact strategy on their Sociology’s class.
