Resumen:
This research aims to develop a study about the parental authority in blended
families, understood as those resulting from a second marriage, in which, one of the
spouses has offspring from an anterior relationship. In order to archive it, it's made a
legal analysis of this new family arrangement, using the deductive method, the
evolutionary and historical monographic procedure, and as a research technique, the
literature. The use of these criteria aims to show the possibility of the exercise of the
parental authority by parents as a complementary way, based on socioaffective
parenthood and in the legal value of affection. It's also being discussed as a
consequence of this exercise the attribution of juridical effects to the relationships
stablished between parents and offspring, justified by the principles of human being
dignity, of dignity and preservation of the minor interest, as well as the kinship and
socioaffective bond, and the aim to possess the custody of the offspring.
