Abstract

In this paper we analyze the scientific grand jury and influence of media bias in the jurors who make up the Council of Judgement. The research was guided by the following objectives: to present issues essential to understanding of the topic, as the historical development of the jury in Brazil and in the world, at which were also highlighted the principles governing such institute; addressing the structure and organization of people's court, pointing out the special procedure for the same in the Code of Criminal Procedure Brazil, highlighting each of its phases; analyze the influence of the media in the impartiality of the Body of Judgment, exposing the impartiality as an instrument garantista, and citing cases in which the media influenced the judges' decision. Research is based on theoretical development, the national benchmark of renowned scholars, electronic items and reports on specialized sites nationwide, pertaining to the aforesaid problems. Aiming to achieve the proposed activity, remains appropriate to use the method of deductive approach, using logical reasoning, to obtain a conclusion regarding certain assumptions. Be appropriate to this method, the procedure structuralist, researching the phenomenon in a concrete way, to then reach its abstract level, viewing the facts of the internal point of view. It also employs the technique of indirect documentary research in order to identify the influence of media bias in the jury. It should be noted that the topic is relevant, considering that is the center of discussions, composing activity of legislating processualist contemporaries. Anyway, conducted the research, there was confirmation of the problem and the hypothesis elaborated, namely: problem - The media influences the body of the sentence in the jury? Hypothesis: Yes, the media, through the information passed on by the mass media has the power to influence the jury in the trial of the People's Court .
