This study seeks to investigate the importance of social security protection of rural workers
with special emphasis on insured. The relevance of the theme prevails, since the social
security protection afforded to agricultural workers is the most controversial, is the doctrine,
whether in law, especially in the face of difficulty regarding the characterization of the
condition of the insured, especially with respect to insured special. The aim is to analyze the
concept and evolution of Social Security in Brazil and worldwide, as well as the evolution of
the pension directed to rural workers in Brazilian Federal Constitutions, from the first, in
1824, to the current Constitution of 1988. Regarding the latter, it is noticed that was quite
innovative with regard to the access of rural workers to Social Security, to promote the
inclusion of urban and rural workers in the General - RGPS, ending the discrimination facing
workers rural. However, the difficulty still remains to characterize the particular insured, thus,
this paper aims to address some questions and present the importance of pension policy for
rural society. For the study under discussion, we use the search method called deductive
reasoning, the method of historical procedure, and the method monographic and, finally, the
method functionalist. As research techniques were used in the indirect documentation
literature, and later also the indirect documentation is used. After the various issues addressed
in this study, it is concluded by the relevant importance that has for Rural Welfare society,
however, is still needed for a wide evolution that achieves a perfect social security protection
of the insured particular as envisaged in our legislation.
