Resumen:
The present thesis aims to develop indices of socioeconomic and ecological
development of quilombola communities, with the purpose of hierarchizing and
geospatial technological potential that can promote the improvement of the quality of
life of quilombola families in the State of Paraíba. The research proposes a
methodology of multidimensional analysis, replicable to rural communities of the
Brazilian semiarid. The proposed questions were measured for a universe of 1,905
families, encompassing 7,095 individuals located in 38 communities through the
construction of seven indices, two in the family and five having the IBGE census as the
reference unit of cartography, namely index of : 1) Socioeconomic and Ecological
Development of Quilombola Families (IDSe_Fam); 2) Use of Household Water for
Quilombola Families (IUAg_Fam); 3) Quality of Water for Human Consumption of
Quilombola Communities (IQAh_Qsc); 4) Socioeconomic of the Quilombola
Communities (ISEc_Qsc); 5) Ecological Quilombola Communities (IECo_Qsc); 6)
Socioeconomic and Ecological Development of Quilombola Communities (IDSe_Qsc),
and; 7) Technology Prioritization of Quilombola Communities (IPTe_Qsc), using 157
indicators. Based on the indexes, it was possible to rank the main emerging problems
in the quilombola families in a specific way, and in the quilombola communities
collectively. The main indicators are related to the low nominal monthly household
income per capita, with a record of up to 1/8 minimum wage; The lack of basic
sanitation and access to quality water, indicating a high degree of contaminants in
waters used for drinking; As well as the restrictions of agro-ecological potential in the
areas of the quilombola territory, mostly located in the semi-arid region. The
contribution of this work has advanced to the indication of geo-spatial geotechnologies
for the 38 quilombola communities of Paraíba State.
