Resumo:
The essentiality of water for life is immeasurable. All the creatures that inhabit the
planet Earth depend on it. However, despite the amount of living creatures have
increased, the water remains almost the same since the beginning. For being a finite
resource, it has gaining more and more significance. In Brazil, owner of most
reserves of drinking water in the world, water resources are regulated by Law No.
9.433/97 which establishes the National Water Resources Policy. This work analyzed
that norm, with all its elements, as well as the law No. 6.308/96 which establishes the
State Policy of Water Resources of the State of Paraíba. Were also examined the
state decrees and resolutions related to the topic covered by the water policy of the
state. Still, it was highlighted the Law No. 7.779/05 that establishes an Executive
Management Agency of water of the state of Paraíba. The methods used were the
hermeneutic-legal and the monographic and the bibliographic as a research
technique. In this light it can be verified the significance of the legislation of Paraiba
since it has become an important way for instruments such as billing, grants and
water resources fund came to be regulated
