Resumo:
Cariri Ocindental Paraibano is one of the microregions within the state that suffers most from environmental degradation, with the advance of desertification of the Caatinga biome (tis is, in particular, one of the main environmental problems suffered in the microregion), soil erosion, pollution of river basins, deforestation of riparian forests, among other fator. Environmental education is defined as a measure of preparing people from na early age to preserve the nature that enjoys it, respect living beings, known the environmental problems that are happening in the region and in the world, do action in favor of the integrity nature, in mind that natural resources are finite and therefore must be used responsibly, learn to improve the relationship between society and the environmental and practice sustainability. Environmental education is a way to fight against the erosion of ecosystems and work on sustainability and spread the knowledge of ecological preservation. When inserted in the school context, it tries to bring present and future change in the construction of a more aware society, educating students, childrens and young people. This work brought together some research and discussions on environmental education, and its importance when inserted in the curricular bases of public schools, mainly those of Cariri Ocidental Paraibano.
