Family farming has been considered the main responsible for the production of the foods that are made available for the consumption of the Brazilian population, being often obtained by simple and rustic practices that can interfere in the health of the small producer, in the short or long term. Therefore, agricultural workers in the development of their daily functions are exposed to numerous occupational risks, such as climatic unforeseen events, droughts, intense heat (summer), tool handling, pest occurrences, solar radiation, chemical and pesticide agents. The objective of this research is to analyze occupational risks related to work in the field of family farmers in Cajazeiras-PB. This is an exploratory and field research, descriptive with a quantitative approach, through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to family farmers in that municipality. The sample was carried out with 100 rural farmers. Data collection was used by semi-structured questionnaires prepared by the researchers. After collecting the data, they were analyzed in Word and Excel 2010 spreadsheets. The research was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Teacher Training Center / Federal University of Campina Grande. And they were exposed in graphs and tables and compared with the relevant literature. The results presented regarding the characterization of the participants 70% were female, are in the age group of 20 to 60 years. As for the knowledge of PPE, the majority in 77% said they were aware of PPE, as for the use of PPE 46% always use it. Regarding the existing risks, the responses were unanimous, 71% attributed the classification of the dangerous work environment to the execution of activities and 95% of the participants affirmed the importance of PPE for the protection of accidents and diseases. It is hoped that this research has contributed to the benefits and offers greater guidance in relation to the use of PPE in work carried out in the field, considering the high danger that these workers are exposed to, providing subsidies for the construction of public policies that promote and encourage health education for these farmers, through courses / training, and with that is expected to contribute to a better quality of life for the population served.
