Abstract:
The Sousa Roma are owners of traditions and values, and seek to preserve
them. In a motion reworking of their culture, maintains its identity. Culture plays
a key role in relations between human beings, differentiating another group, and
care, to be part of the human being, is also a form of culture. The cultural trait is
the overlying humans of interest and desires, and this is what separates human
society of animals. Based on the above, it had as objective to describe the way
of life of the Roma community in Sousa-PB. The specific objectives identified as
the Roma live in Sousa-PB. The research was the result of fieldwork conducted
in the city of Sousa, Paraíba State in the years 2014 and 2015 was used as the
main technique the interview, through which we seek relevant information to
local representations of the Roma population. It was open interviews with a pre prepared script, with the authorization of respondents. It is noticeable the
change in Gypsy culture in Sousa, from the language formerly used most
frequently by all Roma today still for elders, especially the increasingly religion
open to new churches, the opening of marriages between Roma and non Roma, the boss who for many today does not exist.
