Abstract:
The present study had as main objective the evaluation of areas potentially irrigable, as
well as, the enquadramento of the lands in classes of use capacity, with base in the
methodology developed by Ramalho et al. (1978) and, aided by a system of geographical
information (SIG).
The study area is located in the municipal district of Sume, State of Paraiba, in
Microrregiao Western Cariri. He/she locates between the meridians -36°51'38 " and -
36°49'01 " of longitude west and -7°41'26 " and -7°39'58 " of south latitude. Distando
approximately 230 km of the capital.
The obtained results allow an adapted planning of the natural resources (soil and water),
facilitating its use as support instrument to the taking of decisions in the elaboration of
development politics seeking like this its sustentabilidade, as well as, the adopted
procedures were shown quite effective in the evaluation of the lands for agricultural ends.
They can be used for production of certain useful permanent cultivations as pastagens or
forests. The Evaluation of the Agricultural Aptitude of the Lands based on the
methodology described in Ramalho Filho et al. (1978) that recommend it is the evaluation
of the agricultural aptitude of the lands based on results of systematic risings,
accomplished with base in the several attributes of the earth-soil, climate, vegetation,
geomorphology, etc.
The geoprocessamento comes in the days you act to be a great ally in the taking of
decisions done by the man, propitiating that the desirable decisions are made in a coherent
way and with a larger level of safety.
The proposal of this study went show to importance of the System of Geographical
information (SIG's) in the use of takings of decisions in a pilot area located among the
geographical coordinates: - 36th 511 38 " and - 36 49 ' 1"0 of longitude and - 7th 4176 "
and -7th 39 ' 58"S of latitude in the semi-arid paraibano located in the city of Sume-PB,
tends as objective to seek a strategic planning of as to do a better use of the use of the soil
for a better maintainable administration. Starting from the use of the software MAPINFO
7.0 was possible to elaborate the thematic maps of Class of Capacity of Use of the Lands
and Classes of Irrigable Lands. The results allow to identify the areas passiveis of
agricultural use, to verify which the lands that could be capable for the agricultural use,
serving like this, for her to have a better direcionamento for that soil type. Taken Apoes
these procedures were detected that the existent soils are not appropriate for culture that
you/they have a demand of lands relatively with a depth high, because the found soils are
considered as shallow.
