Abstract:
The gully is a large open incision in the soil, usually with steep walls and flat bottom, or
not connected to the drainage network that is configured in a major erosional features
resulting from inadequate soil management. Thus, the survey was conducted in order to
characterize the process of physical deterioration and soil erosion in an area near the
Alto Branco district, located in the city of Campina Grande, in order to suggest
mitigation measures for efficient management of the area. Site visits were conducted for
a preliminary assessment (diagnosis), where observations were made and collected two
samples of soil a surface (soil 1) and one from the bottom (ground 2) the gully for
subsequent chemical analysis was also performed possible to capture images and record
better characterize the area as well as measurements of the extent and depth of the gully
with the help of tapes. From the analysis of results can be observed that environmental
degradation in the area is soil erosion, gully being classified as small to medium, with
uses and occupations incompatible with use and occupation of land, affecting the
chemical properties of the soil.
