Resumo:
Ethical issues are present in virtually every aspect of human life. In the Public Administration,
the discussions are increasingly frequent, due to the inversion of values that is put, making the
search for the common good is overcome by the promotion of particular interests. In the midst
of this entire ethical crisis and its negative consequences, the issue has become an object of
interest to society and academia, since it represents a risk to organizations in general and,
above all, to the rule of law. Thus, considering that the UFCG, part of the indirect public
administration, in the form of a special regime autarchy, constitutes a part of the Public
Administration, the present research had as main objective, to analyze the perception of the
university community of the Center of Biological Sciences and Health, Federal University of
Campina Grande, about ethics in Public Administration. This was an exploratory-descriptive
field research, using the inductive method, using as subjects of the research, the people who
make up the Center of Biological Sciences and Health of the Federal University of Campina
Grande, which are the students, the teaching staff, and the technical-administrative servers.
After analyzing the data, the main results of the research indicated a relatively positive
perception by the CCBS university community about the provision of the public service in the
Center, as well as the adequacy of the servers' behavior to the existing ethical standards, even
though they revealed a low index of knowledge about the Code of Professional Ethics of the
Public Civil Servant of the Federal Executive Branch, the Ethics Commission of the
institution and the work performed by it. In the end, some proposals were presented, aiming at
promoting ethics in the University, such as the elaboration and distribution of an educational
booklet, seminars on ethics in Public Administration and the creation of an internal standard
of ethical conduct of the institution.
