Resumo:
This work mentions an industrial case of production capacity increasing of reactors which produce PVC resin. To obtain more productivity two different techniques were applied into the process. The rise of temperature to the reaction end and a monomer injection close to the critical point of conversion of the resin were the techniques used. An experimental design was done to study the influence of these both techniques on the productivity and the quality results. After this, the best operational conditions were set in the reactors and more than 600 batches were carried on to validate the tests.
An 18.8% increase was reached in the productivity. More than 15,000 tons per year are now available in the plant capacity. The final quality of the resin was inside of the desired specification.
