Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the understanding about the conceptualization and
representation of the Secular State in Religious Freedom and how over time this
concept has been misrepresented. The present work deals with the understanding of
Religious Freedom through a historical look, seeking to explain its conceptualization,
as well as its scope. The differentiation of the concept of Secular State and
Secularism is also the object of analysis, in the same way as the original effects of
the divergence in the definition of Secular State and Religious Liberty, seeking to
understand through the deductive approach method, the evolutionary historical
procedure, by bibliographical research, doctrinal and legislative sources, as the
confusion of the concept affects the Right of Manifestation of Religious Freedoms.
Also analyzed in the light of the concept of the Secular State, the issue of Religious
Education in Public Schools in Brazil, the Presence of Religious Symbols displayed
in the Organs of the Judiciary, as well as the case that occurred in particular on the
Campus of the Federal University of Campina Grande.
