Research shows that Brazil is a country where more advance the concept of sustainability and the application of technologies that provide efficient alternatives for sustainable development. And is also one of the countries where the challenges of overcoming poverty are more pronounced, reflecting the contradictions, we developed this study in order to select indicators from the different systems existing in Brazil and worldwide, public policy education in the context of sustainable development, inter-relating them with sustainable development and active citizenship, from the perspective of different social actors. To this end, we carried out descriptive exploratory sixty-seven (67) teachers and / or managers of public institutions of seventeen (17) Brazilian states in 2011, based on studies of UNESCO (2003), AND MARTINS Candide (2008), GREEN (2009). As well as documentary analysis and interviews with managers of educational programs in the city of Campina Grande / PB. The results revealed that the most effective public policies are in general the public educational policies, in particular, development of more sustainable and more socially active citizens are being built. As well, showed strong correlations between the indicators and the importance of Public Policy Education, Sustainability and Active Citizenship.
