Childhood and adolescence are stages of personality formation and sociocultural constructs,
in which the Federal Constitution guarantees fundamental rights and prohibited practices that
hinder the full development of these subjects, such as child labor, which is discussed in
Brazilian laws and considered prohibited when interfere in the development of minors, in
their education, leisure and social participation. Drug trafficking is one of the forms of child
labor exploitation where children and adolescents illegally engage in illegal and harmful
activities for their training, physical, psychological and moral, thus being a social and public
policy concern aimed at protecting minors . These public policies appear as initiatives to
confront, prevent and reduce the access of minors to the universe of drugs. Considering the
problem of work to investigate whether Brazilian public policies are sufficiently effective in
tackling the use of children and adolescents in illegal work for drug trafficking, this study
aimed to understand the effectiveness of public policies in tackling the insertion of children
and adolescents in illicit work at the service of drug trafficking, and for that purpose, the
concepts of childhood and adolescence in society were analyzed, discussing how drug
trafficking uses children and adolescents in the illicit drug trade and what are the
contributions of public policies in the fight against the use of minors at work for drug
trafficking. justifying itself in the social, academic and professional relevance of the debate on
the theme.The methodological path included a literature review that used the empirical
inductive method, seeking to compose detailed information to broaden the understanding of
the content being investigated. The research obtained results favorable to its objectives,
pointing out the effectiveness of public policies in the face of the problem of the insertion of
children and adolescents in child labor in the service of drug trafficking. This reduces the
exposure of these subjects to violence, crime and offenses, avoiding the application of socio educational measures and allowing the subject to develop fully and healthy. Public policies
such as SISNAD, UNICEF and PROERD act in the awareness, protection and education of
children and adolescents, clarifying the damage and consequences of drug use and
involvement with drug trafficking, leading these subjects along itineraries in accordance with
the country's governing laws.
