Resumo:
Social control is very important to citizenship practice. Although this right is naturally
positive to the public administration, it faces barriers when it comes to its fully realization.
This happens due to the lack of a participative culture, of patrimonial practices as well as to
the population’s disbelief in their institutions of political representations. In short, it has been
noticed that the social control will only be successful when these practices are effectively
discussed in our society. The role of education in this process is thus highlighted for it is
fundamental to social transformations and to form citizens with a more accurate critical view.
Thus, a study has been carried out to analyze if the implementation of educational actions
could contribute to the resignification of social control in the Instituto Federal de Educação,
Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte - Campus Caicó (Federal Institute of
Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte – Caicó Campus). To this end, a
quantitative, exploratory-descriptive research with the students of the referred school was
done. The data were collected in two stages, during September-December, 2017. In the first
stage, a questionnaire composed of sixteen questions was used as source of evidence. Yet in
the first stage, a previous analysis was made with the SPSS software, which data was
presented in charts. In the second stage, the researcher created actions aimed at strengthening
the observed critical point – as a resulted from the data obtained from the questionnaires;
these reports were made through photographs. In the third and last stage, the researcher
reapplied ten questions from the questionnaire firstly answered and analized, with the SPSS
software, the obtained results after the actions were implemented. From the results found, one
may conclude that the implementation of educational actions modified the perception of the
students over the social control, contributing to their understanding of this topic to public
administration.
