Resumo:
Atol das Rocas (RN) lies to the west in the South Atlantic and is located on a volcanic top that shows reef formations. It represents a key subject within the area of Marine Biology for revealing fauna and flora that are complemented by its intrinsic characteristics. In view of the challenges posed by the teaching process, the learning of contents of Science and Biology, we worked with the students and professors of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching Initiation (PIBID) Subproject Biology (EEEFM José Rolderick de Oliveira, Nova Floresta - PB), the awareness of the necessity of the use of methodologies that can facilitate the classroom learning about the Atol das Rocas theme. The bibliographic survey was carried out from January 2015 to March 2017, data collection in February 2017 and soon after data analysis completed in March 2017. where seven team members answered a first questionnaire, attended the A lecture and then filled out a second questionnaire. Among the main results, it was pointed out that in terms of age, the individuals interviewed were between 20 and 48 years of age, of whom 57.14% represent individuals up to 25 years of age and 42.86% represent individuals older than 25 years. As to the depth of the contents covered in the textbook on marine biology, 57.14% answered that they were good, 42.86% said they were bad. Through the extension program (PIBID) new practical methodological activities are being inserted to insert these subjects, instigating the students of the high school in the search of new knowledge, while at the same time improving with those already acquired. With this we can deepen and enrich more and more the students' learning about the subjects related to Marine Biology and thus, to encourage environmental education.
