Résumé:
The consumption of functional foods in search of health benefits has been an increasingly frequent habit in the population. This is what happens in the case of chia seed, which has been inserted in the diet of the individuals in order to obtain a good contribution of omega-3 fatty acids, considering that the seed has in its lipid composition about 58, 7% of this fatty acid and that it stands out for its beneficial effects. In addition, the introduction of these foods into the maternal diet during the lactation period has a great influence on the development of their offspring. Thus, the objective of the present work was to evaluate the memory of offspring from rats treated with chia oil supplementation during the lactation period. For this, three groups of animals were used: the control group that received a standard diet, the chia group (source of unsaturated fat), whose standard diet was supplemented with 5% chia oil and the group bathed (source of saturated fat ), Whose standard diet was supplemented with 5% lard, during the 21 days of lactation. To evaluate the effects of chia oil and lard on the animals' memory, the Open Field Habituation Test and the Object Recognition Test were performed, and the last test was performed in two stages, where the first one analyzed the memory of Short-term memory and the second stage analyzed the long-term memory. Both groups supplemented with chia oil and lard showed good results in the habituation test. In the object recognition test, the lard caused an improvement in the short-term memory, whereas in the long-term memory, good results were shown both by the lard group and by the control group. Regarding the exploitation rates of the objects in the short and long term, the first showed no differences between the three groups, since the exploitation rate of the objects in the long term showed a deficit in the group supplemented with chia oil. Therefore, in this work it was evidenced that the supplementation with chia oil presented positive effects on habituation memory. However, there were no effects of chia oil on the short and long term memories, but rather on the effects of lard. Other studies are needed to elucidate such effects obtained with both chia and lard consumption, demonstrating the importance of the consumption of functional foods during lactation.
