Resumo:
In Brazil, the feminine incarcerated population has significantly growing in overcrowded and poor
structured prisons. The lack of organization and structure of prison system difficult the individuals
access to basics rights warranty. In this way, it was developed public policies towards the assistance
of incarcerated population, however, it is a difficult pathway in order to these policies to be
effectively performed and implemented. Meanwhile, the prison system reproduces its
marginalization. Thus, the aim of this research is to identify prison impacts in life quality of
incarcerated women in prisons of Paraiba state. It was a qualitative type study, with inmates women
in non-freedom situation under life imprisonment. It was interviewed 16 inmates, selected
accordingly with maximum and minimum sentencing criteria. Data collection was performed
through the application of semi-structures questionnaires, applied in the four exclusive feminine
penitentiary from Paraiba. After data collection and analysis, it was verified that law establishments
of Paraiba do not assure the inmates basic rights access, mainly regarding limited work and study
offers, moreover, concerning human rights to adequate nutrition, as well as health, which despite
being offered by the establishment minimum professionals, it is noted as difficulties by the
incarcerated women. Finally, it was demonstrated that the prison conditions influence the inmates
life quality, having in consideration that the laws and public policies which assure their rights still
are not implemented in a way that can warranty the access.
