The need to develop and improve structural analysis systems for flexible pavements enabled the emergence of new evaluation methods of its mechanical behavior. Instrumentation is based on install strain gages, pressure cells and thermostats. These, make it possible to measure strain, stress and temperature, enabling a deeper analysis of pavement structures and its developed pathologies. This research aims to analyze the structural performance of a restructured stretch of BR-101 in Recife, by means of pavements instrumentation. Thereunto, a functional and mechanical characterization of the different asphalt mixture types was made. Subsequently, measuring instruments were installed in different layers of the pavement and a software was developed to filter and organize the received data from the recorded readings of each vehicle. Finally, a non-destructive structural evaluation was performed using the FWD device. Results were satisfactory for the installation of measuring instruments with an operating rate of 57% for the strain gages and 50% for tension cells and thermostats. Strain values were in range of 330 to 380 με and vertical pressure was about 420 kPa. Comparing the average values obtained in the instrumentation with those calculated in the retroanalysis, similar results were noted between deformation and stress. Therefore, using instrumentation proved to be a valuable device to analyze structural performance of this pavement, demonstrating similar stress and deformation values to those found in other analysis methods.
