Abstract:
This study aims at describing and analyzing the translation from Brazilian Portuguese
into English of three ads related to tourism in the zyTxiwmveuOtsurtq pSoanom lkPjaihuglofe dmcbaagZaYzXinWe,V UTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA
highlighting the conclusion drawn from the data collected. The theoretical framework
for this study integrates concepts from the Functionalist Theory by Nord (1997),
Translation and Culture by Azenha (1999), Snell-Hornby (1999) and Valente (2010);
concerning Translation and Tourism, Costa (2009) and Chesterman and Williams
(2002). In the analysis, the solutions adopted especially for cultural terms related to
the Brazilian culture are explored, given the difficulty these terms can bring to the
translation process. A general view over the translation regarding tourism in Brazil is
also elucidated in order to try to bring certain awareness to this type of text. Lastly, it
necessary to invest and research in this field to improve the quality of translations in
the area of Tourism.
