Resumo:
The objective of this study is to estimate the rainwater potential in the Campus Pombal-PB of the Federal University of Campina Grande-UFCG, aiming to analyze the feasibility of implantation of rainwater harvesting on campus. It was analyzed the total covered area on campus, as well as the rainfall intensity of the city of Pombal-PB in the period of 20 years (1996 to 2016). To estimate the required volumes of the reservoirs, the English Practical Method and the Brazilian Practical Method (Azevedo Neto) were used. In view of the results, it can be concluded that the Pombal-PB Campus has a considerable potential for rainwater harvesting, since the area is large and can collect and store rainwater for later use, generating financial and environmental economics. This study contributed, therefore, to the identification and diagnosis of the catchment potential in each campus building, and can be used in planning and management strategies.
