Resumo:
The State of Rio Grande do Norte has 186 companies for the production of red ceramics, some of them are in the municipality of Parelhas, located in Seridó Potiguar. The waste management is a very important tool because, in addition to providing less costs, by the smallest generation of waste, it contributes to the preservation of the environment. For an industry to establish itself in an increasingly competitive market, one of the biggest requeriments is that the concern with environmental issues is in the search for adequate and sustainable alternatives and solutions. In the present work, a case study was carried out on the production process, solid waste management and other sustainable actions promoted by a ceramic industry located in Parelhas - RN. The study was developed through in situ findings and through interviews and open questions, with one of the owners of the company, documentary analysis and personal observation. With this, it was observed that the industry practices attitudes that lead the enterprise to have a model of sustainable environmental management, demonstrated by the reintroduction of waste in the production process, reuse of furnace heat for heating the drying oven, use of solar energy in the office, planting and distribution of seedlings to contribute with reforestation etc. Finally, it is concluded that the industry has sought the environmental commitment in order to obtain better results during its productive process.
