Abstract:
Riparian forests are important because they have a range of considerable ecological benefits for the quality of life of local human populations and the river basin. They also influence water quality, in decreasing the silting of the river channel, regulate water regime, stabilize river banks, and are influenced by floods, nutrient inputs, and aquatic ecosystems that surrounding them. However, more and more these areas, which by law should be protected, are undergoing environmental degradation processes. In accord with Brazilian environmental legislation (Law no. 12.651 / 2012 or Brazilian Forest Code), the preservation and recovery of riparian forests must be preserved if they are degraded, respecting minimum margin widths, according to the width of the body duct, Water. Based on this context, the objective of this work was the elaboration of a proposal to recover a section of the riparian forest in the river Brígida in the municipality of Parnamirim-PE. The methodology was based on bibliographical research, informal interviews with the population of the region, field visits, photodocumentation, floristic survey in the study area, use of satellite images and geoprocessing software tools were applied. Based on the results, it was verified that the environmental factors most affected by the various types of degradation were: fauna, flora, water and soil. The recovery techniques suggested to recover the area of the riparian forest were: area isolation, soil repair, revegetation and cultural treatments. Finally, an environmental monitoring plan was recommended, which is indispensable for analyzing the development of the recovery process and for preventing the return of degrading agents, as well as assisting in evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of recovery techniques.
