Resumo:
The semi-arid of the Paraíba is characterized by long periods of drought, where often the state's water sources have below-average water levels, becoming indispensable effective management and studies involving the rational use of water, which can contribute to the preservation of water resources. In the light of this, a research was carried out on the efficient use of water in the State School of Education and Fundamental Dom Moisés Coelho, public school in the city of Cajazeiras-PB, in order to minimize waste and water consumption, due to old hydraulic structures and the lack of information from the community involved, making it necessary to adopt structural and non-structural measures to obtain good results. For this, a survey of the school structure was carried out, as well as information on water consumption with the company responsible for supply, as well as questionnaire applications. Finally, some structural measures are suggested, such as the replacement of sanitary discharges with others of reduced volume, and non-structural measures through Environmental Education such as lectures, mini-courses and informative posters set at the main points of water consumption. It is also hoped that non-structural measures can intervene in water waste, reducing school water consumption.
