Résumé:
Water is an essential resource for all living beings, so there is increasing attention to creating solutions to reduce their consumption from the supply to the end user. Therefore, the objective of this work was the implementation of a Program of Rational Use of Water in a public school in the city of Irecê-BA. Taking into account the existence of many points of consumption, a diagnosis was made of the state of conservation of the hydrosanitary installations, and thus, certain actions to reduce the consumption. In this way, for the State School Doctor Luiz Viana Filho was estimated a volume of losses that totaled 765 liters per day through leaks. An intervention plan was initially proposed which suggests actions to correct the leaks, in order to reduce consumption. Subsequently, it was proposed to replace conventional appliances with economizers and the use of alternative sources, such as water lost in the air conditioning. Associated with this, awareness campaigns were promoted for users to reduce water demand. In addition, it would be necessary to carry out preventive maintenance periodically, and prevent the occurrence of new leaks, so that the reduction in consumption is permanent. Finally, to encourage the implementation of the program, the economic viability was analyzed and the time of return of the investments to the school under study was seven months.
