Resumo:
It is becoming increasingly necessary to monitor the quality of water, since it is a fundamental element to life and through it can be spread diseases, either by their consumption directly or by contamination in the washing of food. We know that there is a relationship between the consumption of contaminated water and the occurrence of diseases caused in humans, so monitoring is necessary to prevent the occurrence of water-borne diseases and also to maintain their quality, since it is a Product used by the population and that its microbiological characteristics are associated with the health of its consumers. As a result of this, the analysis of the quality of the water supply was carried out in the city of Pombal-PB where water samples were collected in different neighborhoods, and thus, their physicochemical and microbiological characteristics were evaluated to verify if it is found For human consumption. It was observed that in some points there was a marked amount of the unconventional microorganisms under study, which can be explained by their resistance to water treatment. As well as some parameters such as color and turbidity exceeded the values required by the legislation. It can be concluded that the system used in the Water Treatment Station of the city of Pombal has been efficient in eliminating pathogenic and undesirable bacteria provided for in current legislation.
