Resumo:
The final disposal of waste from mining industries is a challenge that can contribute to reducing the negative impacts generated by these industries. The insertion of these residues into new production cycles presents an alternative of adequate waste disposal. The ornamental rock processing industry and kaolin generate a large amount of waste, which is studied in several sectors. The objective of this work is recycling the residues of the processing industry of Kaolin and the production of ornamental rocks and it evaluating their potential in the incorporation in the construction industry, through the mechanical behavior, from a statistical planning of the simplex network mixing type design {3,2} with center point for the formulations. In the methodology was carried out the processing of the residues, which were dried in an oven, tornand sieved; the characterization of the materials, regarding the physical, chemical and mineralogical aspects; preparation of test specimens, according to NBR 7211; and the experimental planning, using as a tool the Statistica software. The results of the mechanical behavior and absorption were satisfactory and that, from the linear regression equation sand the response surface generated it is possible to find desirable values of mechanical strength and proportions of materials, respectively. These values were within the allowed limits for use in mortar, from 2MPa to 8MPa of compressive strength, and could thus have several utilities, such as an external coating mortar, inner and ceiling coating, in ceramic blocks offence with holes in the horizontally and vertically. The results of the absorption test were between 8% and 22%, being considered satisfactory values. Thus, it is necessary to study the use of residues in new production processes, because they have properties that are accepted and because they represent less negative impact on the environment.
