Résumé:
Prenatal care comprises a set of activities aimed at promoting the health of pregnant women and the fetus, as well as the identification of risks for both, aiming at providing adequate and timely care. Thus, the objective of this study was to understand the perception of pregnant women assisted in the basic health network about prenatal care. The sample consisted of 25 pregnant women from a Basic Health Unit in the city of Cajazeiras-PB, who were willing to participate in the research, in an exploratory-descriptive study with a quantitative-qualitative approach. Data were collected in November of the current year, through an interview script consisting of open and closed questions, in which the objective data were analyzed qualitatively and the subjective data were analyzed qualitatively, discussed and compared in the light of the relevant literature, noting that these data characterize the profile of the participants and demonstrate their perspective on prenatal care. The main results showed that, in relation to socio-demographic data, most interviewees have an age profile between 20 and 29 years old, most of them being married, having only incomplete elementary school, family income of one to two minimum wages and an average of two pregnancies. With regard to the perception that pregnant women have about prenatal care, it was observed that such women understand prenatal care as a follow-up that should be carried out throughout pregnancy in order to assess and provide health, both in terms of mother and fetus, demonstrating that they have a correct view of the topic addressed, in addition to reporting satisfaction with the assistance received in the prenatal consultation. Given the above, it is expected that this research can contribute to the improvement of prenatal care provided to pregnant women in all necessary aspects.
