Abstract:
The Electroencephalography (EEG) allows read signal from human cerebral activity
(KHANDPUR, 1991). Such readings are fundamental for a medical analysis of
neurological disorders, as well as the creation of BCI applications. This work aimed to
design a portable device, wireless, easily transported by the user when in use and 9V
power supply avoiding electric shocks, that would be able to receive EEG electrical
signals. The device was designed using a Arduino microcontroller for operation
purposes, Bluetooth module for send information to a remote computer unity and a A/D
converter, the ADS1294, for the collecting and converting EEG signals from a channel.
Furthermore, the connection of components before mentioned uses level converter. The
data reception was implemented in software that saves in a file the results from A/D
converter, and then, uses MATLAB to show the results. Due to the use of ADS1294,
become possible a huge reduction of components if compared to other EEG devices
available, that associated with the low power characteristic and A/D converter high
resolution (24-bit), leaves possibility to future projects increases and development of BCI
applications.
