Resumen:
The control of speed variation of alternating current motors always been desired and only
since 60’s, due to availability of semiconductors, the researchers have turned their attention to
devices able to achieve this goal – the frequency inverters. Only after two decades, with the
technological development of microprocessors jointly with lower prices, frequency converters
have improved considerably becoming more common in the market. With the increasing
utilization of this equipment in various places and the constant technological innovation, it is
necessary to rain new users on this widespread technology, giving them a perspective about
the operating principles, fundamental characteristics and behavior in activation of three phase
induction motors. To accomplish this, montages and essays were performed in the High
Voltage Laboratory of the Federal University of Campina Grande, using the CFW-11, series
3.1X WEG, to activate three phase induction motors, aiming draft experimental guides for
training students of Electrical Engeneering.
