Resumo:
This work was born out of a genuine concern about the implementation of Municipal
Law No. 50/1966 that creates the Posture Code for the city of Umari Ceará. For this
reason, we set out to analyze the law in question, focusing on the relationship of this
law with the military dictatorship and the social standards defended by these regimes, through the concept of civility that was observed in both. Therefore, we analyze the historical context in which the Posture Code was created and, with this, the relationship that it has with the military regime in force in Brazil. Consequently, some reflections were necessary, with regard to the content of the Postures Code, discussing the sections that most express a modeling action to impose new postures on the city, monitoring the behavior of the population, as well as the formation and transformation of space urban, taking into account what it establishes to carry out a normatization of social standards then culminating in a typical action of a civilizing process. Finally, we illustrate by images how the civilizing determinations imposed by Municipal Law No. 50/1966 were followed, both with regard to the bodies of the people of the country and in the urban space of this city.
