Abstract:
The utilization of capacitors banks in electric systems have been being increased
continuously following the system’s need. However, the application of capacitors banks
need attention once may happen undesired problems, mainly while the equipment is in
operational mode. Therefore, severe transitory may happen caused by the system and end
up causing damage for the whole system. The ATP (Alternative Transient Program) is a
software specialized in studies of electromagnetics, having several applications and
advantages. Through this software, it is possible to create good electric systems
reproducing the real configuration of the electric network. The present article has the
objective of analyze through the software the capacitive transitory, as well study the
methods of attenuation of this phenomenon. The simulations happened as the following:
assembly the circuit; configuration of the elements; configuration of the parameters of
simulation; treatment and analysis of the results. The results obtained by simulation were
compatible with the ones obtained from the mathematical expressions, explained further
in this article, and the results from the books. In contrast, to the validation of the collected
results it is necessary a good study in a lab, making simulated circuits in a manner to get
better results, verifying the quality of the method used, and confront the acquired results.
