Viver no sertão: narrativas do cotidiano sertanejo em Ibiara – PB (1948-1990).

Abstract

The basis of research lean out on the analysis of the fair almanac “O Nordeste Brasileiro”, a kind of booklet that which demonstrates astrological knowledge (horoscope), medicinal, lunar calendar with rain in the forecast, the kind of food that would father profit during the year, best time to grow, aside from verses, advice, advertising and presentation of talismans and amulets. As the author, Pernambucano Manoel Luiz dos Santos, addressed his writings to all those who believed in his prophecies, with farmers being the main recipients of this almanac in Ibiara PB between the 1948s and 1990s. That way, from the interviews oral with farmers, the study emphasizes the appropriations and uses of this almanac in Ibiara, by way of the memories of those who used and lived under such beliefs and experiences. Along those lines, we analyzed the meanings attributed to this leaflet and its influence on the way of life of Ibiaran farmers, mainly in the period of the ivilMilitary Dictatorship, highlighting the moments of the great droughts in the region. Investigate the practices in the face of the almanac leaflet and the phenomena that permeated the daytoday lives of Ibiarans in this hard period of Brazil.
