Abstract:
This work has the objective to evaluate the feasibility of electric energy supply
by the process of cogenerating with sugarcane bagasse. It will be observed the
advantages of this activity for the Brazilian energetic matrix and society and
environment and the entrepreneur. The cogenerating process by the sugarcane is
efficient and sustainable considering environmental matters. It has big potential to
complement the national energetic park, which is in current scenario, highly dependent
on hydroelectric power plants, which are dependent on rainfall levels and correct
topography. The cogeneration is not a new method in Brazil. It has been used for many
years as an alternative to supply energy for the plants of sugar and ethanol, as long as
their main input it is the bagasse prevenient from the sugarcane processing. The sugar
and ethanol sector projects a high raise on the demand of sugar and ethanol, which
means also a raise on sugarcane bagasse for energy production. This current work
realizes a case study of a sugar and ethanol plant in Alagoas state, Brazil. It is evaluated
the use of sugarcane bagasse on cogeneration of electric energy by its combustion. It is
also shown the importance for the sugar and ethanol sector to sell the extra amount of
energy produced to the energetic market.
