Resumo:
In many cases, such as in forests or oceans, communication systems are installed
under conditions which are unfavorable to repeater sites, as these require certain
infrastructure and periodic maintenance. In these cases, it is convenient to use design
methods which dismiss active elements between the terminals, such as remote optically
pumped amplification (ROPA). This report describes an experimental analysis
of several configurations of a repeaterless optical system using remotely pumped amplifiers
with the purpose of reaching the longest distance possible while maintaining
high enough OSNR for transmission with advanced modulation formats.
