Résumé:
The growing worldwide demand for energy, coupled with environmental concerns
and issues such as energy security and the diversification of energy sources, have been
some of the reasons for the increased use of renewable energy. Solar energy presents an
enormous potential that renewable energy generation environment and its use tends to
increase over the years. This paper presents a study on power generation through
concentrated solar thermal technology. It is presented a brief history of the evolution of
the use of solar energy technology, from Archimedes to its use to generate electricity.
Also a descriptive analysis of CSP technologies applied to electricity generation is shown
as the alternatives used to increase the efficiency CSP plants, consisting of thermal
storage systems and back-up systems. Finally, a case study is made for solar thermal
generation, based on the system of solar electric generation Ivanpah.
