Resumo:
Recently, energy systems based on renewable power developments has been
increasing. Solar power has an important role in this subject and concentrated solar power
(CSP) is proving to be practicable around the world. In Brazil CSP has a significant potential,
however, it is not well known in the country. By using the software SAM, different plants
configurations were simulated, focusing in both most developed technologies in the area,
parabolic-trough and central receiver. It was observed the viability of this technology
implementation, most precisely in the northeast of Brazil. Plants with thermal storage and
simple configuration were simulated. The results show that this technology is not competitive
in Brazil and it is necessary analysis of alternatives to improve its development in the country.
