Resumo:
The state of charge estimation model proposed by Rakhmatov and Vrudhula (RV)
at 2001, describes more accurately than linear models the diffusion of the electroactive
species of an electrochemical battery. In the RV model, there are only two parameters to
be estimated, a and B, where a describes the maximum capacity in one battery discharge,
and B is the coefficient related to the diffusion rate of the electroactive species over the
electrolyte. The main objective of this work is to validate the RV model. In order to
achieve this goal, an experimental platform was used. This platform contains a battery, a
DC electronic load, sensors to measure the voltage and current of the battery, and a
microcontroller for the data acquisition. The validation was performed by comparing the
discharge durations obtained from the RV model simulations, for the a and B parameters
previously estimated, and the discharge durations of real ion lithium batteries. The
experiments were performed by discharging a 3.7V ion lithium battery until the time
instant when the voltage between the battery terminals achieved 3.0V.
