Abstract:
The performance of insulation against electrical efforts of impulsive nature is a
key factor to the reliability of the electrical systems, and theme of insulation
coordination studies. In this work, statistical methods for the planning,
implementation and evaluation of measurement experiments of breakdown
voltage were studied. Simulations were performed in order to study and
evaluate the performance of the constant-voltage method and Up and Down
method. The effect of varying parameters on the reliability of the results was
described. For the tests in laboratory, an impulse voltage generator was used,
and spark gaps with different geometries were analyzed. With the knowledge
and techniques obtained, one can perform and evaluate test results of electrical
equipment with self-regenerative insulation.
